New York-Tokyo Music Festival @ Central Park

Japanese influences have added numerous elements to New York City’s culture since 2 decades ago, when a new generation of Japanese adopted the city. This bond will be even more evident when the New York-Tokyo Music Festival will take place in Central Park later this month. Though sisters cities since 1960, this event, only in its second year, is one of the kind in the New York music scene.

The event will include live performances, a special game event presented by EA Games, a preview of the new Spike TV’s anime series “Afro Samurai”, and of course music by U.S and Japanese artists. The admission is completely FREE. For those companies interest in participating in this event, please contact info@newyork-tokyo.com

    Product "Japan Monster" Hoody

The Product “Japan Monster” Hoody available Only at The Brooklyn Circus

To all the dudes who think that Nigo and his A Bathing Ape did it first, read on. I applaud the Product crew for making a piece the “Japan Monster” Hoody that pays more homage to The Lucha Libre. (read below)

MEXICO – The land of the wrestling mask. Lucha Libre consists mostly of colorful masked men, a pervasive tradition based on the popularity of such stars as EL SANTO and BLUE DEMON in the 1950’s. The mask is not only a costume tradition, it is also a major dramatic device – mask vs. mask matches are the height of lucha rivalries, and wrestlers unmasked usually go through major attitude and career changes (Cien Caras was a popular masked man, the unmasked Caras has since become one of Mexicos foremost villains).

Disclaimer: Bevon pictured below is by no means a wrestler. He does wrestle with his inner demonds, but nothing more. You can speak to him when he approaches you at The Brooklyn Circus, he is harmless. Only harmful to himself, observe him and you’ll see.

Hey Autumn-captain of The Brooklyn Circus ladies team reminded indirectly to post this: This blog belongs to a long time friend of mine Andrea. She’s a graphic designer who has worked for quite a few notable companies and deserves all the success she’s obtained so far. She has a really ,really good sense of design and put together a really dope blog for the ladies. But trust me I am on there everyday, because good stuff has no gender. Like the ladies wearing The BKC shirts, get it? good stuff has no bounderies or gender.

Note:She plugged thebrooklyncircus blog on her blog as well, we are the first male topic on there. Not really because she featured our ladies on her blog. You will be seeing more of her and her movement on this blog and at The Brooklyn Circus if she accepts my offers.

Moving on: (Another Freshman Class 06-07 project)
Our favorite friends Stadium from Daikayama,Tokyo are in town for some sight seeing, shopping and meeting with The Brooklyn Circus about a really, really dope project. Last night we chatted over dinner at Typhoon/Japanese restaurant and then stopped by The Maritine Hotel on our way to PM Lounge. Some great ideas and concepts we layed out that we think the culture will appreciate. We are working on a collection of designed pieces, I am so pumped about the opportunity to work on this project.
