Yesterday, the BKcSF team hit the streets of San Francisco to give out personal invitations to The Brooklyn Circus 1-Year Anniversary Celebration to neighbors, friends, and bystanders.

The team made sure to stop by some of their favorite spots. Pictured above, Gabe the Great personally invites Azikiwee of D-Structure and Sha of Acrimony.

Along the way, the gang ran into some friends. Pictured above, Yojaira of Farmer Brown receives her invitation and shares some laughs.

Shortly after, Calvin bumped into JD Elquist of the Shades of Great Blog representing in his BKc Naval Tee.

The Brooklyn Circus SF 1-Year Anniversary is making headlines. Be a part of history. The preparation continues…
The BKc SF will be receiving some really nice gifts for their One Year Anniversary. To commemorate this special occasion we decided to make these pieces only available at The Brooklyn Circus SF before its even available at any other Brooklyn Circus locations. When our intern Alex heard this he was devastated and considered running away to join The Brooklyn Circus SF and not even returning to Paris for the summer. Yep! The Brooklyn Circus, Experience is Everything . . .

Steampunk + BKc Best of Both Worlds: It’s interesting how some vintage collectors or Antique dealers frown on all things new, “I only wear vintage clothing or own Antique furniture, I hate all this new stuff”. Yet give you a card with their email address on it, pointing you to their website and take your number on their i-phone. How about telling you how much something was sold for on ebay. BKc has always been about both worlds, mixing and matching eras to create our own era. The New York Times RUTH LA FERLA wrote a great article (5/08/08) on the “Steam Punk” movement and it’s cultural influences and importance.
In our quest to continue to reinvent our personal styles and find our look forward, yes “different” is the quest but it’s always different within a group of other different individuals who you share something with. It’s never I want to be so different that no one, absolutely no one understands me or shares my ideas, that’s pretty lonely. Steam Punk and BKc share a love for old meets new, visual fantasy, all things brass, the industrial era, Victorian style, Alexander McQueen, waistcoats, top hats and paper boy hats. Micheal Jackson’ style was a mix of old and new. Yep! the floor is open for comments on the subject.
More to come on the topic . . .

In the wake of Michael Jackson’s death, it’s only right that we emphasize the importance of honoring our living legends and pioneers. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz’s did the right thing by proclaiming June 30th (that’s today) 2009 as “Spike Lee Day”. This also marks the 20th anniversary of Spike’s third film Do The Right Thing.
Note: We’ll let the MJ media frenzy settle. Stay tuned for more on Micheal Jackson’ life and the meaning of his music to The Bearded Man in his next installment of “The Bearded Man Speaks, “I’ve been a fan since May 13th 1983″ . . .

The preparation begins… The Brooklyn Circus San Francisco 1 Year Anniversary Celebration starts 4th of July Weekend on 1521 Fillmore Street.
After all that vintage shopping The Bearded Man headed back to 150 Nevins to show the gang what he got. When he got to the store Ben, who is writing a piece on the John Midgely + BKc Portrait Project, was waiting to speak with him about the history and philosophy of the brand. So of course The Bearded Man invited him into the “corner office” to chat for a bit. Yep! The Brooklyn Circus, Experience is Everything . . .

After returning for their road trip The Bearded Man and The Circus Trainer wasted no time hitting the NYc weekend vintage markets. The Two went uptown, downtown, and even underground to find the best genuine and authentic vintage clothing, furniture, art, photographs, and other incredible items. They definitely found some inspiring pieces, make sure you stop by 150 Nevins and ask them about those new additions to the BKc vintage collection, and how you can start your own. Yep! After being on the bus for what seemed like an eternity it was time to explore The Garage Antiques and Collectibles

There are always a lot of fun interesting pieces to be found

The Bearded man was able to find exactly what he was looking for

The Circus Trainer also got some really good deals, but it was time to hit the next spot

On the way there we couldn’t help but notice the “Commerce after Death”

As big fans of the man and all his work “We will miss you Michael”

After all that antiquing The Bearded Man decided to take a rest in a very beautifully decayed chair
The Bearded Man hit the road again the weekend in search of the best vintage pieces out there. This time his sidekick was none other than The Circus Trainer. The two got an early start after being out the night before (look out for pics from The NBA Draft after party). Yep! The Brooklyn Circus, Experience is Everything . . .

An interesting guy we met along the way, he in a sense trumpeted the start of a great vintage expedition

And with that The Bearded Man was off through the streets of China Town

He went so far, for a second he thought he ended up in a China Town decades in the past

Luckily The Circus Trainer was quick to point out that there is a China Town in many major cities

The Bearded Man eager to explore the treasure trove of vintage goodies

At last the doors were opened to the ultimate secret stash of vintage apparel

As we get ready to toast to our 1-Year Anniversary, we also are continuing to develop our family of talent in San Francisco. Meet Chasen, The Brooklyn Circus SF’s new intern. A Los Angeles native majoring in Fashion Marketing at the SF Art Institute, Chasen brings fresh creative energy with a Southern California twist. Please help us in welcoming him as he learns everything that is The Brooklyn Circus, as we continue to learn ourselves…
